Skelton Park Fatality – William Andrew – 03 Dec 1911

(accident: 29 Sep 1911), aged 21, Haulage Hand, he was found at his place of work evidently suffering pain, and said he had been nipped between waggons; he ultimately went home and did not work again; he was seen at his home by his usual medical attendant, who did not then, or at any time later, find any mark of injury; on 25th November he was taken to Middlesbrough Infirmary where he died on the 3rd December, the cause of death being given as Addison’s disease; an inquest was held and a verdict returned that “he died from Addison’s disease accelerated by an accident in Skelton Park Mine whilst following his employment.”
